The art of learning
As a teacher I am always elated when a student of mine finally ‘gets it’.
And Ah-Ha moment.
Once they couldn’t and now they can.
Two weeks ago my son, BC, ‘got it’.
He began to read.
We were on our 7+ hour drive down to San Diego when Hubby, in an attempt to entertain, began writing three letter words on BC’s Magna-Doodle.
B-A-T
“Sound it out”
Buuu aaaa ttttt
bbbb at
bat!!
“Now your turn BC.”
C-A-T
It was a great game and all, and we thought that maybe in a couple of months BC might begin to crack the reading code.
Jump forward 2 days!! My dad, and educator, continued playing this sound it out game with BC.
Within a day he started to sound out words with ease.
Amazing.

As a special gift, Grandpa took BC to the teacher supply store to buy him his own set of books to read.
And read he did.
At each new stage of development in my children’s lives, I’m at awe.
My baby.
He’s growing up so fast.
And I am so excited.
Welcome to a whole new world, BC.
New adventures are now at your beck and call.
